Nothing Productive Here

Peach and Rosalina

So I haven’t updated in awhile because SURPRISE I’ve been busy with avoiding school work.  So all I’ve really been drawing are crappy doodles in my sketchbook.  Here are some of the less crappy ones.

I’ve been on a Mario kick lately.  I blame it on this book. So above are Peach and Rosalina (Super Mario Galaxy) in a not so typical style from me.

Also, cartoony self-portraits.

Not a lot to talk about in this post.  Just have some new stuff from my new, shiny moleskine sketchbook.  Once I have the cover of my moleskine embossed and decorated, I’ll take pictures and share them here.

Rainbow Cupcakes

Uh oh, looks like I’m already posting stuff that’s not art related.  Actually, any time I step into the kitchen and actually DO something makes me feel productive and creative.  So on Wednesday I made rainbow cupcakes and brought them into work the next day!  Of course they disappeared rather quickly.

Crayons Don’t Get Much Love

by Ashley

Lol crayons!

I was planning on posting some of my older website designs for giggles, but it looks like there aren’t any screen shots readily available on my hard drive. I don’t feel like going through a bunch of old backup CDs to find them (at least not tonight).

Instead, I’m going to share a couple of recent crayon sketches.

Um, yeah. I’m sure I’ll post more frequently with more interesting stuff in a couple of weeks when school starts. Maybe…

Fairly Accurate Depictions

I like to draw heads and portraits. I can focus on my favorite part of drawing people: facial expressions.  Admittedly I don’t usually draw realistic stuff… like, anything.  I focus more on cartoony expressions, because those can strech and don’t have to make a whole lot of sense.

Learning realistic anatomy is really, really important though.  If I had a time machine, I’d go back and poke the hell out of my preteen self to start drawing more from life.  Now I have to go back and unlearn some pretty bad habits.

I haven’t taken Drawing III yet, which is where I will have an opportunity to practice drawing nudes. This is why I’m grateful for websites like Pose Maniacs.  This website features an app that will randomly pull a 3D human figure pose from hundreds of options.  You can set a time limit for quick sketching, or you can choose to draw without a timer.

Under the cut are some drawings I made from there.
